Open Call for residency at Köttinspektionen Dans

OPEN CALL

Residency 1: 11 May – 11 June 2023
Residency 2: 21 Aug – 17 Sep 2023

Köttinspektionen is an artist-run cultural centre located in Uppsala, founded in 2014. The venue is shared between three art forms: dance, theatre and visual arts. Köttinspektionen Dans has hosted a variety of choreographic practices, performances and interventions that experiment, in different ways, with dance and choreography as an art form, and as politics and relations. As an artist-run platform our strength is to offer supportive structures for open ended artistic processes.

During 2023 we offer two residencies for dance artists and choreographers, one person or a small group (maximum 3 people). The residency is aimed at professional dance artists, looking for a quiet space for process based work, to try new ways of working, challenging habitual methods and practices in order to experience, examine and understand their own artistic practice in a new light. As part of the residency the artist is asked to share their practice in a workshop, and participate in a public program with a performance.

The residency offers:

— access to rehearsal and performance spaces and use of technical equipment
— residency fee of SEK 60 000 (excl VAT)
— accommodation (flat in Uppsala)
— travel allowance
— film documentation
— audience host and PR for workshop and public events

This is expected from the residency artist:

— to work in the space during the whole period of the residency
— to share their work in a workshop during the residency
— to participate with a performance in a public program:
• residency 1: Performance festival at Uppsala art museum 12–13 May 2023
• residency 2: Uppsala Kulturnatt at Köttinspektionen 9 sep 2023
— to participate in weekly meetings to check in on needs and wishes in order to plan the period ahead together.
