El pasado 14 de junio invitamos a Jonas Mekas a que se acercara hasta la sala de Naves Matadero donde estamos ensayando la performance Ningún Lugar. Nos sentimos muy afortunados de compartir nuestro proceso con él y con su hijo Sebastian, y de conversar sobre teatro, cine, arte y vida mientras comíamos un menú en el gallego de enfrente.
Estos días nos ha sorprendido la entrada sobre Orquestina de Pigmeos en el vídeo-diario de su web. Enlazamos aquí el video (aunque sus elogios nos dan más que pudor) y agradecemos mucho su implicación y apoyo.
Agradecemos también a la dirección del Festival Filmadrid su generosidad para que este encuentro fuera posible.

Dear Jonas Mekas,
we are part of the Spanish live arts collective Orquestina de pigmeos, and we are preparing a new performance in which we’d like to work, among other materials, with some of your texts, from your books, films, statements, etc.
The performance will take place in Naves Matadero at the end of september 2017, mixturing live action, live music and video projection, and it will be developed by an amateur theater collective of rumanian inmigrant women with a number of musicians. We send attached a photo of an rehearsal in which we are watching «Reminiscences…» in a tv monitor.
By the way, some months ago we were invited by the National Library to make a performance around «domestic uses of the word and the poetic action here and now» and we chose your incredible book «Ningún lugar adonde ir» to make a kind of «performative cinema reading«.
We want to express our gratitude for your work, that we really admire, and let you know our project.
We have just known that you’re coming to Filmadrid Festival. It would be great to meet you. We´d like to invite you to a rehearsal in Matadero with the Rumanian ladies and musicians (the place is just opposite to Cineteca), or we could meet in another place if it was better for you.

Tú sí que sabes, Jonas. Yo de mayor quiero ser como Jonas Mekas. Sensible al «arte pequeño», «no pretencioso», «conectado con la realidad». Y de la Documenta y de todos los demás eventos grandes que vea en toda Europa, invitado con todos los honores, a mis 94 años, quedarme con Orquestina de Pigmeos y no poder resistirme a decirle a todo el mundo en mi videoblog que lo que están preparando Chus Domínguez y Nilo Gallego es lo mejor que he visto en todo el viaje.
